Harry W. Lawton was born in Long Beach, CA on December 11, 1927. He was a writer, journalist, editor, historian, and a lecturer at the University of California, Riverside. Royal Ervin "Erv" Taylor was an anthropologist and archaeologist who was a professor at the University of California, Riverside, Department of Anthropology from 1970 until his death in 2019. He was particularly known for his work running a radiocarbon dating lab at UCR. Robert F. Heizer was born in Colorado. He received his B.A. (1936) and Ph. D. (1941) degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He taught in Oregon (1940-1941) and California (1945-1976).
